Mike Jensen

Mike Jensen is a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT with L'Anse Fire and Rescue.He also serves as the Assistant Chief for Administration. His day job is working for Michigan State University Extension as the County Extension Director for Baraga County. He also serves as a District Forestry Agent covering the entire U.P.

Mike is an accomplished grant writer and has worked with numerous fire departments in the U.P. on their FEMA Grants. In Baraga County, Mike is directly credited with bring more than 2 million dollars in grants into the community.

In addition, Mike has been able to bring together his passion for the fire service with his educational background in Forestry and Education to develop a Remote Rescue Response program serving both the Logging Industry and Fire and other First Responders. Mike is one of two nationally certified Farmedic Instructors in Michigan. He is a trainer for Heavy Truck Extrication, a Wilderness EMT, Wildland Firefighter, Public Information Officer, and holds a number of other certifications.

His personal commitment to helping firefighters be safe is greatly enhanced by working with Douglas Safety Systems.
